Overview
Bjelin Woodura Herringbone applies the same cured-wood Woodura idea to patterned installs. Our catalog lists eight oak SKUs in Modern and Classic formats—colors Stockholm, Sigtuna, Boden, and Sandviken each appear in both formats. Sheets show about 0.441" thickness, Pro Matt lacquer, Select grading, High water resistance, underfloor heating Yes, and Välinge 5G Dry® click-lock.
Modern vs Classic changes piece geometry (catalog widths around 3.6" vs 2.7", lengths around 21.5" vs 13.2"). Wear-layer values on these herringbone rows read differently than the plank SKUs in our feed (0.6 on the herringbone rows)—treat that as SKU-sheet data and confirm on the live Bjelin page for the exact article you order.
Herringbone is for rooms where the pattern is the design feature: foyers, dining rooms, or a primary suite. Straight Woodura Planks remain the better default when you want long continuous lines and fewer pattern seams.
Suitability for Utah homes
Patterned floors show substrate waves. Utah slabs and older joist systems need flatter prep than a forgiving straight plank. Dry winter air still favors multi-layer cured wood over solid herringbone of comparable face thickness. High water-resistance ratings help in kitchens when detailing is correct; stairs and landings need matching nosings and careful pattern alignment—we plan that before cutting.
Pets and kids: densified surfaces help, but herringbone has more seams per square foot, so grit control at entries matters. Sun-washed rooms: matt lacquer and Select grading keep the look calm; still sample on site.
Install and care
Click-lock herringbone follows Bjelin’s pattern layout and expansion rules—not a casual weekend DIY when walls are out of square. We dry-lay critical sightlines, confirm starting lines, and protect the pattern through doorways. Care matches other Woodura finishes: manufacturer-approved cleaners, no standing water, careful furniture pads.
Refinish expectations track cured-wood wear layers: maintain the factory system; do not assume multiple full sand-downs like thick solid oak.
How it compares
Choose Herringbone when the pattern is the point; choose Woodura Planks when you want width and length for open Wasatch Front great rooms. Versus Reward Provence III, Herringbone is click-lock cured wood with densified surface tech; Provence is traditional engineered hardwood with a 2mm wear layer and glue/nail/float options.

FAQ
What is the difference between Modern and Classic Woodura Herringbone?
Both are oak Woodura herringbone with click-lock in our catalog; Modern and Classic use different piece widths and lengths. We bring both formats so you can see scale in your room.
Is herringbone harder to install than planks?
Yes—layout, wall squareness, and transitions take more planning. That is why we measure and dry-lay key areas before committing the full floor.
Can I mix Herringbone with Woodura Planks?
Sometimes, with a clear transition plan and compatible heights. We only recommend mixes when the manufacturer guidance and your elevations support it.
